But first, you’ll hear me rant about how my partner and I rented tuxedos for my family for a special event, and I almost lost my mind when my son’s turned out to be the wrong size…and we didn’t have enough time to exchange it! There are probably people whose child gets the wrong kidney who don’t make the fuss I did. Ah, the joys of parenting.

Two weeks ago, my family suffered a terrible loss when a baby who was living with us for 18 days was taken from our house when the birth mother changed her mind about the adoption. This week, I’ll tell you about how we’re moving forward on building our family.

I also read a letter from The Family Pride Coalition. The letter reminds us what a precarious time we are at in history. Did you know that twelve states are preparing to introduce constitutional amendments that would prevent LGBT persons from adopting children? Yes, after turning out the conservative vote by scaring people about gay marriage, the same evil folks are planning to use gay parenting as the next wedge issue to motivate their base and to further divide our country. And demonizing our families is a price they are only too willing to pay to accomplish their reactionary ends.
