Conference for LGBT parents in Upstate New York

“Lesbian and gay parents, would-be parents, and their children will gather in upstate New York this fall for a weekend of learning, sharing and playing. The 2005 Pride and Joy Families Weekend Conference will take place Friday, November 11 through Sunday, November 13 in Binghamton, NY. The event will feature a keynote address, educational workshops, creative programming for children, a resource fair, off-site family outings, entertainment and a Family Dance! More than 50 lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) families have already expressed their interest in attending.”
“Creative programs and workshops are available for children ages 6 mos. and up while their parents attend adult workshops. Activities include yoga, music, art, and theatre. Special sessions will be offered on family diversity, an anti-bullying workshop, and “Talking about our families.” Adult and teenaged children of LGBT parents will have the chance to participate in a speak-out about their families and the issues they face in school and elsewhere. ”
