August 7, 2005: My family has just returned from a wonderful vacation at The Family Pride Coalition’s Family Week. Along with over 400 LGBT-headed families, we learned, shared, played and celebrated our families together. What an empowering, informative week it was.

In today’s show, I welcome my returning listeners, as well my new ones - especially those who found us through ITunes. Welcome aboard!

Most of the rest of the show is dedicated to sharing my family’s Family Week experience. I tell you about the educational workshops they offered, as well as the social and leisure activities that were available. There truly was something for every taste and every family.

You’ll also get to hear the incredible drama when my computer crashed halfway through this week’s show. Yikes! I could have cleaned this up during postproduction, but I decided to leave it in - why should I be the only one to suffer? (Luckily, the computer was out of operation for all my crying and cursing.)

I have two interviews with fellow Family Week revelers. Claire from Boston, MA and David and Glenn from Brooklyn, NY, share their impressions of Family Week, as well as a little bit about their own families. I loved meeting these parents and I hope we stay in touch.

This week’s Good News/Bad News segments looks at a historic ruling in San Diego related to domestic partnerships, and the ongoing persecution of LGBT servicemembers for being queer. Thank goodness we’re not at war - otherwise, we might need their talents!

This week’s Action Alert asks you to visit the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, the only group solely devoted to protecting the rights of our men and women in uniform.

Thanks again for visiting, and I hope you’ll join us again.

The sounds of Ptown in the background added so much to this weeks podcast. Your guests and location were the perfect show to listen to during the “dog days” of summer.

    Keep up the good work!
