July 30, 2005: Hi, and welcome to the third episode of The Gay Parenting Show. (And they said it wouldn’t last!)
Today’s show is a bit on the brief side, because I have to run and pack my family up for our trip to Provincetown for Family Week! We’re really looking forward to the programs and people that make Family Week so special.
One of the goals I’ve set for my show is to give a voice to some of the wondeful LGBT famlies whose stories you’d never hear in the mainstream media. That’s why I’m so happy that today I have an interview with Clint and Bryan from Ohio. He and his partner are not only gay dads, but they’re gay dads with 8 kids! Many of his children came from foster care with labels that would have scared many prospective parents away. But Clint and his partner took a chance on kids that might otherwise have wound up stuck in the foster care system. Their courage and faith has been rewarded with a beautiful, loving, and awfully big family.
They’ve faced some obstacles in their fatherhood, including one time a number of police cars converged on them because they thought they were kidnappers. (I guess two men plus no mommy seemed nefarious). Wait till you hear this story!
The tale of how Clint and Bryan built their family is truly moving. They are a testament to the fact that it truly is love that makes a family.
Thanks for listening. I’ll be schlepping my recording gear to Provincetown to get some interviews while I’m there. Be sure to tune in next week for a live report from Family Week!

I am not gay, nor am I a parent. I have, however worked with families, individual children and parents for many years. As a champion for kids.I just have to tell you how much I love this show. I can’t wait for the next podcast, and I am doing all I can to get the word out.
It is obvious that you put a lot of work into this podcast, and I wanted you to know how much I appreciate it.
Thanks so much!
