The Gay Parenting Show #002 (MP3 18.4 MB 53 min 31sec)
Thank you for joining us for the second episode of the Gay Parenting Show.
This week, I’ll tell you a little about my son’s bout with the dreaded coxsackie virus. Then, I’ll play you just a bit of my promised interview with Rick Sammon Rick Sammon’s Complete Guide to Digital Photography: 107 Lessons on Taking, Making, Editing, Storing, Printing, and Sharing Better Digital Images (as I explain on the show, that interview didn’t turn out quite as well as I had hoped…) Rick is a great guy, and I’m sure we’ll have him back soon.
The theme of the rest of the show is homophobia, and the destructive effect it has on children’s lives. I’ll share some disturbing and shocking news accounts, as well as some hate mail directed at this show. Then we’ll talk to Judith E. Snow, author of How It Feels to Have a Gay or Lesbian Parent: A Book by Kids for Kids of All Ages who’ll explain what she learned about homophobia in her interviews.
Judith is wonderful to listen to, really smart and interesting. Thanks for being on the show, Judith.
This week’s Action Alert asks you to visit the website of a group that Judith talks a lot about: Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere (COLAGE). COLAGE is the only national and international organization in the world specifically supporting young people with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender parents. Check out their programs, see if any would benefit your children, and feel free to make a contribution. I know they’ll appreciate it.
I also do a lot of talking this week about the pathological destructiveness of many in the “ex-gay” movement. For a great look at that world, check out Wayne Besen’s Anything but Straight: Unmasking the Scandals and Lies Behind the Ex-Gay Myth
Thanks again for joining us this week. Stay tuned!
